Our Very First Visitors!!!!

We had the BEST weekend! We received our very first visitors! Erik and Ryan came for the weekend to see us and to attend the BYU/Boston College game. What fans! We had a great time and it was wonderful to be with family again! We managed to squeeze all four of us into our little apartment with plenty of room to spare and to play games.

The four of us on our way to the BIG game getting ready to take the T (subway).

Eriks' first time on the subway! He was so excited and looks like a pro!
This is Ryan holding on for his life!
This is a picture of our view from the T. It is the charles river as we are crossing over from cambridge into boston.

After about forty five minutes on the T, we finally made it to the game. We had a great time! It was fun to see the Cougars play live again. Reminded us of old times... There was a huge section of Cougar fans which even included about twenty missionaries!!!! Eventhough we ended up losing, we couldnt have asked for a better game!

After the game we went to the NorthEnd of Boston which is also known as "little italy". This is us at the Fire Station. I couldnt pass up a better oppurtunity for a great pic. (the boys were good sports). We went and had an authentic italian dinner that was simply magnifico!

We returned home at about 8:30 and we all just crashed. It had been a long and exciting day! We were sad to see Erik and Ryan leave this morning. We had a great time with them and can't wait for our next visitors!

The Outdoors

This is a picture of the Charles river that is located right across the street from us. (Sorry for all the cars in the pic.). We will get a better pic for you later...

Shaler Lane. A very peaceful and beautiful street with trees making a nice archway. Everyone is super nice! We had a neighborhood bbq yesterday for Labor Day and met a lot of new people. We had a great time!

This is the entrance to our group of four apartments. We are located on the 2nd floor right apartment. There is a buzzer to let people in this door so that they can come up to our apartment. So eastcoast!

We are continuing to enjoy our little Cambridge adventure! Christian started his first day of Law School today and Katie starts a secretarial job tomorrow! Summer is over and back to work we come!...

Some finishing touches!

Here it is, our final wall is finished. A nice desk for Christian to study on, and a nice table for Katie to serve her well prepared meals and delicious snacks and cookies. Stay tuned . . . tommorrow we will take the tour to the outdoor premises. Keep the comments coming, and the packages. All our love, your poverty stricken alum.

And Finally...

Here is our beautiful kitchen. There actually turned out to be plenty of room for all of our things (granted, we didnt bring back all of our gifts.). The oven is absolutely tiny, barely fits a lone cookie sheet but it gets the job done! It's actually rather cute!

This is a picture of our entry way. The blank wall will house our yet to be delivered desk for christian and our kitchen table.
And finally, last but not least, our family room. It all came together pretty well. We love it and are proud of all of our hardwork and labor! We are just anxiously waiting for our first visitors!

Tomorrow is when the fun begins! Christian starts orientation from 9:30-5 and I have my first job interview at 9 a.m. I guess our days of sleeping in and enjoying the summer are gone! However, we are excited to get started! and to see what is in store for us!

Almost done . . . four days and the wave of the wand

Believe us, it took more work than it looks like!! Friday morning our moving truck arrived, but not our movers. Things were a little bit complicated by the fact that we only had one hour to unload the truck. We worked like crazy and some neighbors came to our rescue in the nick of time. On Saturday we rented a car and made stops for some essentials at Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, Target, Home Depot, a different BBB, a different Target, yet another Target, and then Shaws Grocery store. Needless to say, the Taurus was full by the time we got home nine hours later. Now we are finally able to relax and enjoy the place a little. It's a world of difference from when we only had our travel bags, an air mattress, and a deck of Uno cards.

Arriving at 11D Shaler Lane

We arrived in Cambridge on Monday night and stayed at the Mariott. Then on Tuesday we went and picked up the keys for our apartment. We stayed at the hotel again that night, hoping that our moving truck would arrive within the next day or so. When we realized that our truck had been misdirected and wouldn't arrive until Friday, we decided to get an air mattress and "rough it" until our stuff arrived.
